Benjamin E. Mays Preparatory School is set to host a musical performance led by Maret School of Washington, D.C. on February 14, 2012. The Maret Upper School Band is comprised of thirty-nine high school students that perform a wide variety of literature including classical music, jazz, rock, pop, and international music.
Mays Prep will be holding its first ever Carnival Extravaganza on Thursday, February 16, 2012. The Carnival Extravaganza will feature a Parade, Carnival Court and a Ball. Students as well as community and civic organizations will participate in the festivities.
Scholars of Mays Prep will truly learn about the experience of Mardi Gras through a historical presentation given by the men of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club. Zulu's history dates back to early 1900s.
In recognition of the Mardi Gras Holiday, there will be no school February 20-22nd. Scholars will return Thursday, February 23rd.
RSD Direct-Run and Charter schools have move to one application in order to make the enrollment process more family-friendly. Please visit RSD's website for more information.
